Will these chicks inherit crests?

I’m trying to determine if the chicks circled in red will inherit crests. Hopefully the picture below isn’t too confusing- fathers are on the left, mothers on the right, and their respective offspring in the center.

The two chicks’ father is the son of the olive Egger in the top left who has produced a daughter with a crest (circled in blue) so he carried the gene. I’m not sure if he passed it to his son who is the father of the chicks in question. One of the mothers is a starlight green Egger/olive Egger and she has a crest. The other chick’s mother is a GLC so she doesn’t have one. Is it likely these chicks or at least one of them will inherit a crest? From the bit of research I did it seems as though it’s not a dominant gene and may not come through if neither parent has one. Hoping someone can confirm.

The bottom chick, the one with the GLC mother, almost appears to have the top black feathers growing out a tad more but I’m not too sure it means it’s a crest.

Obviously I could wait a couple more weeks and find out but you know how that waiting game goes 😉

I can upload the individual photos from this montage if needed.

Thank you all!

If neither parent has a crest, they will not produce crested offspring. If one parent has a crest, the offspring have a 50% chance of also having a crest.

I looked back at some older photos and if I’m not mistaken, he actually has a wee bit of a crest. I’ve never noticed it. I’ll have to catch him tomorrow to confirm but I’m pretty sure he’s got one. Exciting because I’m really hoping for crested babies.

In that case, if both parents are crested the chicks have a 75% chance of getting a crest. Though it may be a small one since the parents’ crests are small.

Hard to tell in the photo, but we definitely have a crest growing 😍. Now here’s to hoping they’re all girls!
