so I am leaving tommrow night and will not be back till Monday some time so i will be gone for 5 days. my mother will be bringing them indoors to air condtioning while im gone (heat wave expected the whole time im gone stressing about that but knowing they will be in mhy room cool makes it better) anyways i have read they have small brains and forget about a rooster in under a week so dose that mean they are going to for get about me?? I am very close to my chickens and even have one that likes to cuddle with me. I can pick 3 out of th 4 up any time I want. I finaly have it where I can walk past them with out them freaking out and trying to run away and stay layed down. I dont want them to for get about me but if they do how long will it take them to remmber me or will have i have to sgtart from scrach with our bonding. thak you

I think you'll be fine. I've had to be away from my birds for extended periods of time before and every remembered me fine.

gosh My daughter is 14 years old and now i have these 4 baby birds (well there 4 months old) I im feeling like a new mom again and feeling guilty about leaving them but out of all my options this is the best way for the girls. glad they will remember me

They'll remember you.

We were gone from our flock for 12 days (neighbors took care of them while we were away) in July. Their laying went right down the toilet (1-2 per day) while we were gone, too. When we got back, we got rushed (even by the roo) for attention and treats and more attention and they were all like crazed maniacs when we let them out to free range, and followed us around our whole first day back. They went back to 4-5 eggs per day, too.
