Interesting! My Barred Rocks bought as day old chicks middle of August 2018 started to lay January 3rd. All 7 were laying by 23 weeks old.View attachment 2407282
I do add lights at 5 am daily year-round and sunset was 13 minutes later than earliest sunset in December. GC
So excited! They can start laying in winter. I've had first time layers start in December, January.
I'm not too concerned! The other two provide plenty of eggs!Definitely depends on a zillion factors, but one of my pullets just started laying about a week ago (I'm guessing based on size of the nest I found), so dont give up hope! (or do, so that any eggs you find are just a huge bonus)
