So I started off getting little ones, before I could sex them I ended up with 3 males and 1 female, let them get to about 1.5-2 years old and moved them to a diff farm (long story) well at the first farm they never really roamed to far from the chicken coop, but there was 20 chickens always around also, but once they got to the new farm I caged them for 10 months, then let them out they would stick around for a few days leave for a few days come back it went on like this for awhile mind you they had to travel through really thick woods to leave the area, which they still did, till the neighbors complained that they where in there tree at night being loud they didn't even have the respect to call us they just went right to the cops, so we had to lock them up, got some new chickens out here, and there locked up together getting along great, the male likes the chickens more then the peahens I think, so my question is if i let him out does anyone know if its a better chance he will stick around this time to stay near chickens or is it more then likely he will wonder off again?

Well having chickens here never stopped mine from going anywhere they want.
I have to teach mine to stay out of an area and it takes months of catching the young ones and turning them back , i do not allow mine to cross my driveway which leads to my daughters place, the last batch will be 1 year old May threw July and still have to herd them back on occasion, however just fussing at them will turn them back most of the time now unless they see something out of place like a rabbit cat, strange bird etc...

My older birds 2, 3 and almost 4 never try to go over there any more.

It sounds like they may have found another food source if they were staying gone for days at a time and unless you can be home 24/7 to keep them in line i would not turning them loose again and risk a fine.

How close are the neighbors and how much property do you have?

This heron likes to come to the ponds but the peas will chase it till it flys away, they will do this to any critter they see in their area, deer, coons foxes whatever they think they can run off.
