We turned our little horse "barn", was made to house one horse so it's not terribly huge, into our coop. We installed a window in the side the chickens are in and there's a hole to put the hay through in between that room (was where the hay and tack was stored, concrete floor) and the dirt floor room, where the horse lived. So we covered that hole with hardware cloth and we leave it open. Both sides have the divided doors. The dirt floor side we leave the top door open for ventilation and on the chickens side we open the top and bottom doors, as well as the window in the morning and of course close them at night. So my question is this-in the winter, what do we need to change? Close the window, open just the bottom door? Will that be too much draft still? The doors are on the south side of the coop. Also, I'm thinking we should close the dirt side door as well? The building has decent ventilation at the top of the walls where the roof sits, you know? Just wondering what doors to have open? Hopefully, I explained it okay ;P
