I would replace all the chicken wire with either all hardware cloth or a 1x2 welded wire with harware cloth along the bottom to keep raccoons from reaching through the wire and snagging a passing bird. And bury the wire a couple of feet below groiund to keep the digging critters out.
Lots of people will tell you that there's nothing wrong with chicken wire because they always use it and haven't lost a bird "yet." If anyone doubts how weak chicken wire is, go to this thread and scroll down to the bottom for a picture.
