i was thinking of instead of building a roof over the run area if i could just tie lines of red twine from one side to the other to keep hawks form diving in. Would this work? Also if i got a pair of pigeons to live in the coop would they be able to fly out through the spaces of string? And would sparrows be a problem from them flying into the run?
thanx

I'm not sure about the small birds. But I would think it would certainly detour the hawk

I've heard of this done with owls so it makes sense that it could also work for hawks. The idea is that the rope cross-sections are not large enough to accommodate the wing span of the bird and thus they stay away.

Instead of using twine, I would use highly visible nylon rope for added security.
