Well I have chicks due in 2 weeks so I figured I should get to work on my fedder. Here's what I whipped up with a few borrowed ideas from different places. Seems to hold feed well and not overflow.
Only concern is that perhaps the lip will be too high for baby chicks and I'll need to add a little step.
Made this out of a plant pot drain pan (orange-ish), plastic pot (black) and cut and routed a lid from some leftover wood. One bolt with washer and nut through the middle to connect the pot and the pot pan.
The black pot already had drain holes cut in it so I didn't really have to do anything but bolt it together and make the lid.
Cost was under $5.
