Will turkeys be too loud?

I would like to raise 3 turkeys this spring but am concerned about how noisy they are. Ive been looking through previous threads and heard all different things from turkeys are no louder than chickens to turkeys are one of the loudest types of poultry. I was thinking of raising 3 of the broad breasted turkeys so that they would be ready to process as soon as possible incase they become too loud.
In your experience how loud are turkeys compared to chickens?
Do the females gobble like the males do?
About what age do they begin to gobble?
Thanks :)

Females do not gobble, they make many many other noises however. Some of them LOUD.
Turkeys talk often at a lower volume, some sounds they make are very loud though. Consider the chicken egg song, once one gets going some others join in. The loudest noise is a "chirp" used for locating other members of the flock or expressing anger sometimes in hens.

My males began gobbling around 10 weeks, really got into it at 14 weeks.

Not sure about the experience of others, last summer was my first year raising bb's and they were very quiet compared to my chickens even. The hens chirp allot (but it's pretty soft), and the tom gobbled on occasion, like when the crows cawed etc.. usually another noise spurred them to make any. I'm actually getting more turkeys Sunday because I really enjoyed having them around, they are far more personable than even my chickens are. If you just have a few birds, I don't think they will be that noisy.

Thanks for the replys :)
Does anyone know if the smaller breeds like the midget whites would not be as loud as they larger breeds? Or are all breeds basically the same in terms if noise?

I don't know if you have close neighbors or not. But I do want to tell you that my Toms gobble at EVERYTHING. If I am outside working making any noise it is nearly constant at times. It's not very audible at 100 yards but at 40 it can get annoying. We are building a sawmill shed and every hammer bang, every saw start, every time we yell, every time the dog walks by, a crow flys over, the lawn mower, the barn door shuts.... you get the picture, all of them, at the same time. It doesn't bother me but they are my birds. We also don't have any neighbrs to worry about. It seems like other peoples birds don't do this but mine do! Perhaps with a dozen Toms there is a little more competition for gobbling rights.
My hens make a high "pip" noise at everything also. Turkeys aren't quiet like hens... but aren't nearly as annoying as an obnoxious rooster.

My neighbors live 100+ yards away what type of gender and breed should I get?
Hey👋
This thread is really old, you might want to make your own to get more people to look at it.

To answer your question though, it depends.
Do you want them for pets, food, or breeding? All three?
If you want them for food only broad breasted would be best.
If you want them for pets/breeding you’ll want the heritage variety. And there are lots of different varieties. What kind you get will be based on your personal preference.
I personally love my royal palms and will be adding bronze this year. For me I pick them based on looks. I love taking pictures so I wanted ones I think are beautiful. I also plan to sell poults.

What gender you keep will also depend on why you are getting turkeys. If you want them as pets, females would be the way to go. They are so snuggly. They can be a little loud with their chirps, but nothing as loud as chickens egg song or roosters crowing.
