I have 2 - 2012 female turkeys, I don't have a male.
One of the females squats in a breeding position every time I get near her and started calling a lot this spring, I'm assuming for a male.
The last few days she has gone off into the woods behind our house doing the repetitive calling.
I've heard her calling from quite a distance but so far she has come home.
I was just wondering if she happened upon some wild turkeys which we do have in this area if they would breed her.
Oddly enough about a month ago two wild turkey toms came with within less than 50 ft. of my girls and the girls just stood still looking at them quietly and the wild toms just went about their casual foraging and moved on.
I suppose I should get a tom to stop her strong desire to get bred but I'm not sure if I want to get one....but really don't want to lose my favorite pet turkey girl to predators in the woods. Thanks for any insight.

Its definitely possible, though I questing if she bonds with wild turkeys as the whether or not she would return. I'll have to snap a picture next time I see it but you should my turkey pen this time of year!

Early in the morning it gets swarmed by wild turkeys, they can't get in and mine can't get out. The tom just gobbles at them and the wild hens make their barking noise.

It was funny, we had company over (my wifes cousin) and I was down back working in the garage and she came running over screaming the turkeys were out. So I of course went boulting for the pen and started laughing when I got there. None of the turkeys were mine! All mine were safe and sound in there pen with a whole flock of wild turkeys standing near the pen looking in.
