Will you raise a chicken breed you do not like if there is profit in it?

I tend to say no. One of the reasons for raising chickens is because I enjoy it. I do not like poofy feathers on the head of chickens, and I generally do not like bantams. I know many people love these types of chickens. Those people can raise these breeds of chickens.

I tend to like chickens that look nice, are useful, and are easy to raise.

We can raise breeds of chickens we do not like, but where's the fun in that?

I will raise any chicken,, because All Chickens were created equally.
I don't see profit in raising chickens at backyard levels.
Only chickens I stay away from,,,, are broilers. My reason: I keep chickens as pets. Broilers have a very limited short lifespan.😕 I don't eat my chickens.
I currently only have 4 Bantams. ❤️

WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and:highfive:

Since I want my chickens to get along, I choose breeds I think will mingle well. From what I've read here on BYC, birds that look very different from mine might be picked on, so I don't have Polish (or other head-poofy birds) or silkies or bantams. I don't have a bias against them, just not willing to take the risk.

Since I don't free range, I need birds that can handle being in a coop/run set up.

You will not raise broilers. It seems all chickens are not created equally. :)

No. My bias is Rock type birds. For me they define chicken. I may not like Zekes or Bertha's choice and they may not like mine, but hey, it's in the eye of the beholder, right?

I agree that rocks, like Barred Plymouth Rocks and White Plymouth Rocks, are some of the best breeds of chickens.

That makes a lot of sense. You need the breeds to get along well in the coop.

You named my least-favorite breeds as the breeds you do not want. :)
