I have looked and looked at pictures of chicken breeds and haven't been able to find one that looks like our girl Willow. We bought her from a lady in San Antonio who had purchased an assortment of breeds from either Ideal Poultry or Randall Burkey

She supposed came from the Hatchery and only spent a couple of days with Wendi C. who bought her from the hatchery. If she's a mutt, Wendi got ripped off!

I think that is it! Ideal says it will put a more expensive "rare" breed in an assortment if one hasn't sold. Randall Burkey sells rare breed assortments of which the Welsummer is one. I didn't look at too many pics of the rare breeds because I (wrongly) assumed that Willow's breed would be common. The other chickens we got from Wendi at the same time are two Buff Orphingtons, one Rhode Island Red and one black Austrolorp. (My DH just grabbed "cute" ones that he could catch.)

Thanks.

Welsummer, and she looks young. If she lays a dark or speckled egg then you'll know for sure. There isn't much difference in the look of hatchery and breeder welsummers, so take that with a grain of salt. I've been raising them for several years.
