The chicks were getting 'stinky' so everyone was trying to decide where they would stay until they got bigger. My mom said outside, my Dad said in the big Coop. I said... why don't we make
another one?
The chicks were playing around with the bigger girls, trying to pluck their waddles off. The Big Chicken had to give them a talk about how they were attatched, and weren't little yummy bugs.
After they learned that lesson, they ate their first Dandelions. 'They were so pretty' everyone thought. While their new temporary Tween house was being constructed, they went into the big
coop and started imatating the big girls.
"Oh my gosh... that egg is SOOOO egglishious...!"
"Girllll....... look at that chickens stripes... they are so last egg season!"
Bell'e, the Easter Egger was moaning since the Big Chicken hadn't given Bell'e her Daily song. It went sorta like this:
" I'm an Easter Egger and I lay green eggs! Not brown, white, pink, or banti..... eggtastic GREEN eggs!"
Finnaly it was finished.. the brooder of May 2011!
Since Willow and her peeps were tweens, they started acting like it.
" Oh my gosh.. are my Laces messed up?" Willow yelled franticly.
Sophie and Sandy are turning out to be the most friendly!
"Mama... mama!!" They both jumped onto the Big Chicken for some cuddling. Willow and Lacey were trying to hop on the Polish's tophats.
"Bye Mommy!" The chicks looked up at the Big Chicken to say their final words.. until tonight!
Moving to the Big Girl Coop
Last night the chicks got moved to the Big Girls Coop. [BGC] They all were a bit scared, but they thought of sleeping in the nest boxed. If you don't know what they're for, go ahead and use them!
The chicks loved sleeping in the nest boxes, and for some entertainment they just had to look up to watch the big girls glare down at them.
All the chicks lost their baby fluff.
"You gotta do what you gotta do Mom".
Lacey,Willow, and Sophie seem to hang around a lot. The Big Chicken calls them "The Family Bunch".
But not everything was perfect last night.
It was dark, and the Big Chicken was closing the girls in for the night. The chicks were very startled- and scared. The Big Chicken didn't know what happened- She closed the door and heard a "PEEEEEP!"
It was Willow. She had her toe in the doorstep. The Big Chicken started to get very scared- and didn't know what to do. The bigger girls had some of their claws off- but not like this. The next day half of Willow's nail was off, and it was clinging by a strand. The Big Chickens mom said "Nature will do what is best- it's the best healer".
Willow was limping, but she isn't hurt very much. It didn't even bleed. But today Willow was back to sunbathing, scratching, and walking.
Dandelions were comming up- so the chicks loved these very much. It turned their beaks yellow!
It was very hot out today- so the chicks... and Daisy, went to go drink.
After scracthing in the garden (Which they weren't suppost to... don't tell!)
Willow was trying something new- Rock climbing! Sounds fun, eh?
They layed down, and sunbathed while taking a short nap.
Lacey and Willow are getting very pretty Laces. Lacey wanted to show hers to you.
. She just doesn't perfer to stand up as long as the others... but my mom got the hanging nail off. She said she didn't peep or anything. I'll keep you guys posted
Well, somehow Button has a patch of fluff missing by her butt. It's like she got snagged on something. I've never seen it on any chicken before! It's looking better, but it creeps me out. Why can't everyone just be healthy?
