wow, to hear some talk about putting fans in their coops, I sure don't need that. The winds have been up around 40mph in steady blow with gusts. having a time just keeping doors from blowing open or shut. They are eating well and seem to be drinking a bunch. If the wind was bothering them wouldn't they go up in the house?

They'll go in if they're bothered by it. My chickens have been out in some horrible weather, just hanging out, looking for tid bits.

I'm a little envious of your breeze. It was 87 here today and muggy! Like, the door knobs have condensation on them muggy

I offer my animals shelter from wind and rain and let them choose when to use it. I've not lost an animal to weather-related issues yet.

If it's windy out, I don't let my girls free range. Makes it too easy for something to sneak up on them and not be heard/smelled. There's a reason you see prey animals (like horses) act spooky in the wind! No matter the weather though, they have full access to their covered run all day and unless it's really windy AND rainy, they're out scratching around in the coop. But when it's nap time, they go upstairs in the coop and roost there, even though there are two roost poles in the run.

I have six hens and when the wind and rain starts they all run into the coop. They are only 11 weeks old and I think they are just experiencing life.
