Window placement in 10x10 coop

Easier to lower poop board.

May be better to raise windows in the long run though.

I have mine so that there is at least 2' wall height below them. I don't use droppings boards though. If using those my roosts would be higher to keep the space usable underneath. I have giant breeds so cannot go higher.

I agree.
How will the windows operate?
Top hinged opening to the outside is my fav, then they can stay open during rain in the summer.

Will also suggest large roof overhangs for winter eave venting and to protect all vents/windows.

The two south and north windows are 29 inches from the coop floor inside. I put them lower so I could open them from the outside a little easier as the coop is built on a slope. We can definitely raise. This is coop so far... should I spread Windows out as well? I was trying to avoid putting them in the walk in the area but I don’t think I’m going to get around that so I may as well spread them out a bit too... they look a little funny! any other suggestions throw at me! And yes I know.. trees are too close :fl

I think the spacing is fine. Remember function is more important than looks. Being more to the middle means more draft free space at the ends of the coop.

Nice overhang above them by the way. :yesss:

You may end up making steps to help get to the windows but it will be so worth it.

Thanks! I’d rather raise them now then later in the build. Steps will be a must or I was thinking I could store a little bench or ladder near. Still kicking around the idea of making windows to go on East side on both sides of door. I’m excited about the progress so far!
