Windows and doors from scratch?

I just bought 'storm windows' from Lowes for $33 each....

Do you want fancy glass windows, or just windows for vents? I took the simple route in my coop... the windows are just cut out and covered in chicken wire, and then they have a 'door' over them that can be closed... they're very simple but I love them! You can see them on my page.

the doors were the same thing... we pretty much just cut the door out of the plywood, and then added 2x4's around the opening and the door for more support and to keep the wood from warping, and then put it back on with hinges... and we had a door!

My husband made some super simple frames with wood, gorilla glue, and plexiglass. They are hinged at the top and have a loop closure. Easy and inexpensive. We are not 100% positive on how well they will hold up, but are guessing they should work pretty good and last a while.

The only thing I would do different is mount them on the outside and the hardware cloth on the inside lol. But everything is clearer in hindsight!
