Windows breaking

I have a problem with the glass breaking in the winter what can I use that will still give light?

Glass in windows? Do you know what is breaking them?

Windows in my coop had a sheet of hard ware cloth over the widows to kee the chickens from sitting on the sill. And another sheet on the outside to keep predators from sitting on the sill.

Not sure. I just find the glass on the ground. I don't have wire on the outside because they tilt open

Oh, OK. My windows slid up and down. The hardware cloth was on a frame to allow opening and shutting.

If chickens can fly up into the window sometimes their wings can break glass.

Are they breaking while tilted open or closed?

Maybe use plexiglass instead of real glass?
