Windows upside down?

We are building our coop this weekend. It will be 6x8 with 4' high side walls. The ends walls will be taller for they will peak in the center. Anyway, we have 2 double hung windows that are 3x3. One window will go on the side wall (4' high). Should we install it upside down so that the air flow is higher when open? Otherwise the window will be 1' off the ground and that lower part will open. That actually sounds like a good idea...and sounds very logical. I'd say go for it

if they are double hung windows you should be able to lower the top pane and raise the lower pane

double hung or double paned? Double hung, both top and bottom sash move. Single hung means only one sash moves. Either way you can't hang a window upside down, well you can but the mechanical balances wont work that way. Same reason you can't hang them sideways. They also wont bleed off water correctly.

I have a double hung window. The top drops down. That's how I always open it so that the air circulation is up high, but also because my naughty girls like to sit in the window and poo down the wall.

I didn't know that if you installed it upside down that it wouldn't work properly. Bummer.

We are (well especially me) looking forward to building the coop. This is our first experience with chickens and so far we have had a blast. It was so much fun picking out what breeds to get and our first 3 weeks with these girls have been wonderful. Appreciate BYC.
