Hello,
I currently have 4 Frizzles that are just about 7 weeks old, and from I have been reading about this breed is that they can be quite flighty. With that being said are they to young to clip their wings. The reason I ask is because they are new additions to my flock of my older buff orpingtons, that I let free range during the day and i usually leave the pen open so they can come and go. I know that right now if i leave the pen open the frizzles would fly over the fence and well be gone. Cause I thought one had escaped this morning only to find it roosting on top of my coop LOL. Also I currently have a heat lamp to help keep them warm. Cause I read they are not to cold hearty. But i was reading a thread on here saying that a heat lamp has its pros and cons. one of being which they will become accustom to the heat and if something happens in the dead of winter it would shock them. My only concern is that their frizzles would become wet during the winter and they can get frostbite. I live in NWNJ so the winters could be somewhat cold at times. Thoughts on this as well.
Thanks
