Wing Clipping and Training with a Budgie

If it makes you feel any better I have heard that those things can cut into them if the bird's leg grows too big for it. I have accidentally trimmed nails too short and made them bleed, and they get over it! So long as it don't get infected you'll be fine.
You can try bananas for taming. They aren't always crazy about them the first time or so, but once they get the taste it is like candy to them. Don't go nuts though, because it really unbalances their nutrition, but that's a whole other topic. My first guy "free ranged" the house most of the time and if you weren't careful you'd catch him eating holes in the skins just to get to them! He also drank my hot chocolate, which was supposed to be poisonous, and my cool aid, and macaroni, and spaghetti.....

Mom got him for me when i was in junior high and he lived until quite a few years after i was on my own. 12 years altogether, i think. Miss that bird. We always ate together, and i always put him where he could see me sleeping. I think that is why we were so close.

She'll get over it. My birds hate me for a few days post nail clipping, but forget it.

The band would have been no harm though, by the time they are banded, their leg is as big as it will be. Not like chicken legs at all.

i think wing clipping is a good idea because it will not fly away and when it grows its wings back it will already know you
