wing clipping for the first time, need tips/advice please

I need to clip a wing of my leghorn(she decided to hop the fence last night)
I've never done it before but I've looked at a couple of websites with diagrams, but I would like to get some suggestions from people who've done it before.

Based on Raising CHickens for Dummies

'Only the large flight feathers should be trimmed, sometimes trimming only one wing is enough"
Pull the wing away from the body and using sharp scissors, cut across the middle of all the LONG flight feathers.
If you hit an immature feather and it bleeds, grasp the feather close to where it joins the wing and pull it out. The bleeding should stop.
