I am going to purchase a pair of guinea fowl.

I have a large garden surrounded on all sides by a concrete wall.

Can I clip the guinea fowls wings and then let them free range in the garden after about a week?

I only have a small pen for them.. so I don't want to keep them inside all the time. I also have chickens.. will the guinea fowl join up with them? My chicken sleep in a tree. There are no predators where I live so they are safe.

Also can I feed them the same food as the chickens. They get lots of vegetables, table scraps, and eat insects in the garden.. Also they eat a chick crumbs.

Also this pair of guineas seem very afraid of people. How long will it take them to tame down. They are under one year old. I am hoping they will also roost in the tree by climbing up a ladder that my chickens use. Or else I could herd them back into their pen at night.

Thanks.

Hello:

Guinea Fowl are pretty unpredictable.
I doubt that they will return to a small enclosure.
I have never clipped wings on my birds.
Guineas will naturally fly into a tree to roost if given
this or a small enclosure with no high roosting place.
I doubt you would have a lot of success catching the
Guineas, especially every night. I would think if they were
chased and caught once, that would give them the
message that the game is on.
I do not know of any one that has taught a Guinea
to use a ramp to get to a tree to roost.
I just do not think you are going to have much success here, but
hey, ya never know !
Guinea G.
