Wing clipping

Is it okay to clip my hens' wings when the weather is very cold? We didn't get it done before now, and I'm afraid they will try to fly over the fence (which they have done several times during the summer) and freeze to death because they can't get back to the entrance to their coop.

I don't see a problem with clipping their wings in the cold.

It won't hurt anything. When you clip wings though, you only clip one side. Clipping both sides allows them to still be able to flap their wings and gets some momentum going and they can still fly. Clipping one side throws off their balance and they can't fly.
