Wing clipping?

You'll have to do it again about every 6 months. The clipped feathers will eventually fall out when the bird molts and new ones will grow in.

Well I know when I raised birds as in pet birds. When we clipped wings we did one wing one time and then the other wing the next. Not sure on Chickens as I have never consider it.

But I know with Quaker parrots and cockatiels they will learn to compensate with clipped one if you keep doing the same side.

So both is good. Bad thing about clipping is the predator factor. That's one less option they have as far as escape,

I usually only clip the longest 5 feathers on one side(the whole flock on left side), except my leghorn, I have to cut all flight feathers since shes so light!

I have 2 RIR and 2 BR's that are about 8 weeks right now and are very flighty. They don't walk up the ramp to get inside, they just fly up, so if I clip their wings will they figure out to walk up? I would really like to let them in the yard with me, but I am afraid they will fly off and I won't be able to catch them.
