wing feather growth rate?

Is it normal for the wing feathers of chicks of the same breed to grow at significantly different rates? I have a couple with a large set of wing feathers. a couple with almost none, and all the rest are smack dab in the middle between them. Everyone seems healthy and happy, so I'm not worried, just curious.

Some people attribute feather growth to sex. Slow feathering birds = cockerals and fast feathing brids = pullets. I don't buy this, and this meathod has been proven wrong just as often as its proven right.

Think of feathering out as "puberty" for chickens. Not every single person will physically mature at the same rate (or mentally, for that matter, but thats a seperate topic) and neither will chickens, even those of the same breed.
