Hi all,

I have a mixed flock of Buff Orpington's and Golden Laced Wyandotte's. This morning, about 10 minutes ago, one of my Golden Laced Wyandotte's grabbed one of my Buff's wings. The Buff squawked and tried to get away by running while the GLW kept holding on. I told her to let go....and she did. Should I take a look at the Buff's wing? Will this happen again?

By the way, the reason this happened was because I had just put a pile of weeds, grass, etc.

Thanks!

I have a duck that does this. He always seems to grab the same duck and it has happened repeatedly. I think there is potential for injury, especially if there is a large size difference. I suspect it may happen again. I would only worry about a physical exam if your chicken is acting off or holding her wing in an odd position. Chances are she is just fine.

Spread the weeds out more....that might help...but yeah they can be rather vicious.
If the bird whose wing was grabbed looks like it's not working right, then yes take a look.
How old are these birds?
