"Oh, the two-leggeds were taking me to the big building full of other metal houses and chickens," she explained, "The moving house was rammed into another one this time, I fell out of it and tumbled down a steep hill."

(She's referring to being taken to a poultry show, and she fell out of the car when it crashed.)

(Ah.)

"Moving...house? What's a house?" said the rooster. He was obviously feral for his whole life.

Silver, trudging back into camp, couldn't help overhearing the conversation. "I used to live in one, too," she joined in quietly, feeling awkward about intervening in the conversation. "They were metal dens, hardly bigger than you and me, with hard, cold edges where other chickens could poke and pull at your feathers."

"Houses are the dens that the two-leggeds live in. They're really big, and full of strange things," she said, "This one was metal and it moved." She furrowed and shrugged, "I used to live in the wild too, so I don't fully understand everything the humans invent."

CycloneTail had the image in his head, a simple box of metal, "I think I get it now. A box of metal...I was living in nests with my adopted vulture kin for most of my chickhood. Later on I went to bushes and building my own nests, so I had no idea what a house was," he clucked. The falling sun was shining off his radiant black feathers and excentuated his golden eyes.

"Two-legs are weird," he said while shaking his head with pity for them, "A few tried to kidnap me so they could eat me, I think. They don't live too far from here either, so watch out."

"How far from here is the thunderpath?" Silver asked curiously. The night she had been dropped from the truck she was too panicked to take notice of distance or time.

"A short flight away," he said.

"Thanks," she said gratefully, though in her mind, she wished that she hadn't asked. To think that the humans came so close to the camp was not comforting in the least.

The little hen smiled, happy to be in a clan again. She knew that a clan was definitely where she belonged. She just stood and listened to the two conversing, a bit lost in thought.
