Chenoa found Leif, still asleep, at the exact same spot she left him. But did she actually believe that he would awake? Of course not! Then why did it surprise her? Probably because she had not gotten half the sleep she needed. Chenoa decided to sleep for a bit longer. After all, how could she drag Leif into the school if she was barely able to walk?

When she woke up, it was morning, and Leif was up too.

Leif had pushed himself up against a large rock, feeling a groggy pain pulse throughout his wings and back. A few talons were bent at a funky angle.
Gosh, he felt exhausted.
He watched the sunrise silently.
Why hadn't he died.
 Why.
The spell was massive. Incredible.
It should have killed him.
And yet here I was. Moping, helplessly.
Leif threw his head back, sighing loudly.
"Whyyy." He growled to himself.

“How can I ever thank you enough? The school is absolutely beautiful!” Chenoa ran over to him to help him up, wincing from the pain of her wing. “Did you hurt yourself? That was quite the fall we took!”
