They were introduce to the new coop and almost 80 degrees. Always looking for food! I guess that means the move did not stress them out too much. Precious is in there some where she is a peach and a Barred Rock mix. She comes up to me all the time looking for treats. Put of the 28, 36 that hatched and have survived to 5 weeks and are really enjoying their new home. I am amazed on how fast they grow. Seems like yesterday they were just little chicks all fuzzy. Thanks for everyone's help with suggestions and former posts on incubation. What fun!

I think I am officially an addict. Chicken addict that is. Life is like a barn yard carton of fertile eggs you never know what kind of chicken ya get.

Do they have support groups for this sort of habit forming condition?

As always God's Peace. :thumbsup

Congrats and welcome to Chicken-a-holics Anonymous!
Hi my name is Treslilbirds and I am addicted to chickens. My husband gave me my first chickens, 6 from TSC, a year ago this March. Then my addiction grew further when DH allowed me to place my first mail order that following August. I had 19 (17 hens and two illegal roos) at that point. Well then one of my PBRs passed and I was down to 18. Then Chick Days came to TSC and 4 little Production Red pullets snuck into my purse when I was leaving one day after picking up pine shavings....they’ll do stuff like that!
And THEN another co-op was giving away 5 free chicks with a 50lb bag of feed so....you know... I had to take them. It was pretty much mandatory.

Well and then this incubator showed up...

.........and now there’s 6 more babies waiting to hatch...how many is that? I don’t know...I’m too scared to count.:lau:oops:

Not sure if I’d call this place a support group or a bunch of enablers who care for each other and their birds very very much :gig:love

Welcome to the club!:welcome

I feel much better knowing that I am not alone. I like your incubator what kind? Looks like you have to rotate them by hand or did I miss something? I am looking for something smaller. No more big hatches for me. I would like to hatch some rare breeds next. We shall see. Under 10 ideally.

I hatched out there standard roosters with a OEG bantam. I just use whatever hen is broody to hatch out chicks.

Mine’s a Janoel12. It’s also sold under the name Magicfly12 I believe. It does have an auto turner tray, but I just took it out for lockdown. :)
I got it for under $50 on eBay and it’s got really good reviews. A lot of people seem to have really high hatch rates with it. I was able to fit 6 in the auto tray but you can leave it out and just fill the incubator and turn by hand if you want. One lady on YouTube put over 20 in hers at once and I want to say every single one hatched.:thumbsup
