Welcome, Quail-person! You're pretty likely to find others here who raise those pretty little things. Do you raise them for food, or for pets?

Their little eggs are so pretty...I've had quail eggs on sushi, but have no experience raising them. Nor chickens either, but that is in the near future. So...do they actually make little calls that sound like 'bob-white, bob-white' ? I remember an old cartoon where the quail's little 'top-knot' would fall down into his face so he'd do a sort of chirp-blow and blow it up again. Can't remember more about it than that, though.

Hi Eggscaping,

Raising my Quail for Egg, food and pets. I have my breeders for stock that are my pets. I spend a lot of time with them. And yes they have a beautiful call, but I like the females call the best. The best thing about the quail call is it dosen't blow out your ear drums. Getting in to bobwhite soon. Still in planning stage for cages for them. And yes I remember a little rooster chick and dad cartoon on tv, thinking of that makes me feel old. Lol
