so the 2 pullets are doing well, rir still hasn't giving me a egg, she is 5 1/2 months. her growing up sibling the same age cinninmon queen has been almost 4-5 week! Im hoping its the maturity thing with lack of eggs with the rir. I also have the 2 red stars one has decreased slightly but the other has shut off now for about 1 1/2 weeks? I don't think she has molted yet either. I have a light on a timer for morning and the night.

could be just a anxsouis owner lol

Any thoughts?

Your RIR should start laying soon, she is old enough. Is her comb turning red yet, she showing interest in the nest boxes etc?

Some take a little longer to start and the time of year they all slow down a little, I recommend only using the light in the morning so at dusk they can get on the roost before dark. When you use the light at night on a timer they are milling about, then all of a sudden it's dark and they have a hard time getting on a roost or just end up sleeping on the floor.
Welcome and enjoy!

Hello :frow and Welcome to BYC! Some girls just take a little longer to start, the Cinnamon Queens are usually early layers and hopefully your RIR will start laying pretty soon. If your Stars are older they may be thinking about going into molt or doing a partial molt which isn't as noticable, and they tend to slow down anyhow this time of year.

Welcome to BYC, glad to have you here! x2 on liz9910's advice.

Thanks for all the good information! I have a very low coop, but plenty of room inside for the girls. Got to admit, they had a meeting about lighting, and they came up with...........girls wanted a "skylight"! They won, and its done, it does provide Alot more natural light! Bonus!

Update on the egg laying- all four girls are laying! Rir finally started! ! All four eggs are different
