So. My 24 week pullets have been frolickingly, free-ranging on half an acre under the Ohio summer sun for their whole lives. These are my first chickens. They’re pets and I have no expectations of them except love.
That being said, Winter is coming. What can I expect? Will they still want to be out all the time? Do I need to come up with some indoor entertainment? Do I still leave the door open all day even with cold air coming in?

Will they still want to be out all the time?
Unless it is very windy and cold, yes, they will.
Do I need to come up with some indoor entertainment?
I would work more on creating a large sheltered area outdoors for them to use.
Do I still leave the door open all day even with cold air coming in?
I always leave the pop door open to the run but the run is winterized to prevent cold winds blowing through the coop at roost level.
