Winter is here soon enough, so when shall we all start our next batch?

Over here in Ireland we have had a terrible summer, RAIN RAIN RAIN .. poor farmers already have cattle in the shed and did not get their second cut of grass , BUT wow .. so far this week we have had three days of hot oure sunshine and blue blue skys ! .... so tractors are everywere and the cows ,, sheep, hens and the whole lot are out enjoying it! ...

but it wont last too long, so was wondering now it will be getting too cold over here anyway when will you all begin your next batch ?

I wish I didn't get winter. Or at least as bad as I do. I 4 months it will be so cold, your spit freezes before it hits the ground

. Well not quite that cold. -30 celcius (-22F). We're going to hatch one more batch before shutting down. I'm getting jersey giants and quail eggs delivered hopefully. Then we'll start up in early January. I have two brooders in the house so I can keep them warm.

winter for me is more like low 38's....high 65 and at times lots of rain, so a wet winter...once in awhile we get those bad winter storms down 26...but our regular winter feels very cold to us...we are in southern texas....our summers are and have been 105, dead heat and high humidity.

I might not hatch again until after all the holiday rush...

I've just set my last (and only 2nd) hatch on the 10th. Was lucky to find hatching eggs though being late in the year. Some breeders have already split their breeding pairs up by end August. My first lot didn't do well. They came from a friend and she said her cockerel just isn't that interested in his hens anymore. Not sure if that's seasonal or something else.
I'm hoping for a late frost, but then if last winter is anything to go by who knows??
PS - I'm in Ireland too.

I'm hatching in 2 weeks with a possibility of another batch after depending on the hatched body count. Other than that..... not until next fall. Hoping to use the females I hatch now to give me blue eggs for easter

This is my last hatch of the year- due September 25th. We're up in the mountains in Tennessee, and we had snow in October last year. Killed my entire fall garden except for the turnips. Probably won't need the incubator next year- I have lots of big fluffy cochins hopefully a few will be broody

Im out of another batch. Hubby said that if this batch hatches 5 or more, he will not allow me to incubate anymore eggs until those 5 or more start laying :-(

Well I am waiting for some BBS Jersey Giants from Wynette and this will be my winter start up I am also collecting some mutts from my flock for some company!should be putting in Incubator mid week its already set and ready!I am in Hot AZ!
