winter laying behavior?

can they really go broody without any eggs in the nest?

Dawg, thank you for your note on IB. she doesn't seem to have any other symptoms.

Also, if this is what IB eggs look like (https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=906564), that's definitely not what the sebright's was like. just like a normal smooth egg, but pointy on one end with a little wrinkle, like it ran into something before it hardened.

Thanks for the replies...as it turns out, it might be a whole 'nother thing. I think the nesty one was laying her first egg! I got 4 eggs today instead of the usual 3. But can they molt and start laying at the same time? Maybe its the red Christmas light mesh panel that I hung up that made her feel all warm and fuzzy!?!
