We have sand in our coop and decided to lay hay on top this winter as well. We had some frost bite last year and that was horrible… here’s to a better winter! Supposed to be a cold one. Hmmm I maybe pushing for straw when it comes time to add another layer. Mold has been a concern of mine, that’s why we went with sand. Thanks for the info!
