I need to know if you have to bring the chickens indoors during the winter time. I live in Northern Ohio. Sometimes we get alot of snow. And sometimes it gets very cold.

You do not need to bring chickens indoors for winter. They need a dry draft free coop. Depending on your situation (breed, coop etc)you may want to supply supplemental heat.

from MN! Your chickens should be fine during the winter depending on the breed. You may want to insulate your coop but don't forget the ventilation!

I live in MT. When it gets super cold, I don't let mine out of the coop. Now, what I call super cold here, may differ from what others call super cold. I mean 0 degrees and below. My chickens like the snow sometimes. They eat it, and runs and slide around in it comically. But if that cold wind is blowing, and it is 0 degrees, I keep the coop closed.

I haven't gotten my chicks yet! I'm shooting for next spring. I have to build a fence around my property first. Then I'll get the coop and the chicks.

Plus, I don't know what type of chicks to get. I really don't want them to make alot of noise so my neighbors won't like me. Any suggestions?
