Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone has any good tips for pen maintenance in the winter months?

I want to keep it nice for the girls. They do have plenty of space but it can get a bit sludgy when it's constantly raining.

Does anyone put straw or sawdust or anything down on top of the muddy areas? Any tips would be great!

What is your climate? Putting your location in your profile really helps garner better answers/suggestions.

A good mix of dry plant materials works well in most climates.
First make sure you have good drainage and reroute any run off away from run.

Here's a great description of contents and how to manage organic 'bedding' in a run or coop...and there's a great video of what it looks like.

Thanks for replying! Sorry I know I'm repeating what some else's has already asked but I haven't quite figured out my way around the group yet haha ...

I will try this out and see how it goes!
