Winter ventilation and how to deal with wind

There's a fascia, it's touching the wall, but no real soffit as the rafters do not extend beyond the walls.
Fascia goes on the rafter ends, soffit goes on the bottom of rafters that extend beyond the walls.
Interesting how they just hung the shingles out over the roof sheathing to create a 'drip edge'.

But it looks like you could extend the rafters with sistering rafter extensions to create a soffit area. That's what I did with my shed roof when I needed to reshingle.

Oh, I see what you were getting at. Yah, they just spiked some plywood on the bottom of the rafters rather than the usual soffit treatment, but the rafters do overhang the walls by about 8". The fascia isn't actually touching the wall, the pic just makes it look that way. that will all be fixed with the roofing though.

After looking at your coop, I wonder if I shouldn't just take the time to open up the soffit vents like others have asked about instead of my original plan. Seems simpler in the long run. I like how yours is.

Thanks to all for your suggestions and input.
