Thinking ahead to winter...I know its not even summer yet but Im a planner :)What do you do for water when its freezing and below? Normally we just unscrew our hosed from the spigot and dont think about it again until spring but now I need water at least for the water container if not pools....how do duck people manage this? Thanks!

I'm lucky because my duck pen is close to my house. But I have to carry buckets, from inside, out to the ducks to fill their buckets up. Thats one of the reasons I do away with their pool during the cold months.

This past record setting cold winter I had a bucket heater under my rubber oval 'stock tank'. I still needed to kick the ice on super cold mornings but it kept the birds watered and bathed. Filling it was with buckets or on warmer days I'd shovel snow in and let the heater melt it.

Ducks like playing with ice chunks.
