Winterizin

Hello everyone ! Just curious to see when everyone starts winterizing there chicken coops? I usually enclose there run with tarps but I want to know what everyone’s pre curser into starting to tarp there runs etc. I live in southern Ontario so the snow comes randomly.

I usually start when the temperature gets into the 30's, but i'm in PA

I already did it because I don't want to have to work with frozen hands by the time the weather really gets so bad it needs to already have been done.

Not sure exactly what you are doing or how but why would you wan t to wait until it is miserable out there for you?

Here it's October. The frost gets the last of my garden, snowtires go on the cars, firewood gets split, the hose gets put away, the coops get prepped. We try and get all pre-winter chores done in October, because it could be full on winter any day. It's now just the first week of November and it's been below freezing overnight most nights, we've gotten over 5 feet of snow, and we've had temps below zero F, so while some days may still be nice, winter is here!
