Like every other first time chicken lady, I thought I had read and researched for years and now that we have a small flock I’m nervous as all get out for the winter. We had 4 this summer and added another 3 but haven’t integrated them yet which has me even more nervous. The end goal is to connect the run and original (store bought) coop but For now the 4 bigs are living in the Ana White style coop we just built. It’s large, but we had our first snow (in CT) the other day and I realized a ton of mistakes, like needing more ventilation for the coop because it was too humid.
Is it unreasonable to use an A frame for the winter? If we cover one side will they stay dry enough on stormy days? Or should we be getting them all into the rectangular coop with the run added as an extension?
TIA
