Most of our storms come from the south west, so I built my coop to have full walls facing those directions, no solid wall east, and half a wall north. The north side is well protected from rain, but not so much on wind.

I'm in South Carolina, so it's not like it gets SUPER cold, but... should I put a tarp over the north wall until spring?

Sounds viable......with the open east wall you should still have plenty of ventilation.
Pics would confirm your configuration tho.

I would leave the north side open as it's protected by run and close up the east side.
Pics of inside of coop showing roosts would help.

Old roosts got knocked down in predator attack, and getting more pullets this time, so the interior is getting a complete re-design.
