The back of our coop and run face N/NW. The wind and snow drift come up over the hill right into the run and coop.We put plastic on the bottom of the coop under the nesting boxes and along the other side. We put plastic along the back and half way across the sides. We put 2 x 2 boards vertically and horizontally and zip tied the boards to the run posts for wind support. Plenty of ventilation from front and sides. I also ran duct tape along all the edges of the plastic and stapled the plastic to the back of the boards before zip tying them on. Waiting for our Universal water de-icer from chewy.com.Its good for metal and plastic waterers. Thermostatically controlled. Then we will be set for winter. We did put a roof on in summer. I used the support post to put roosts on. We put some hay bales covered with plastic bags across the back to give the coop some added insulation. So happy!! Could be a little over kill but they are protected. My chickens are spoiled rotten.!🤷‍♀️🐥🐓♥️

If that's where most the winds hit, should be good!
