I'm also in Colorado...I've pondered switching to the vinyl strips, but haven't. My thought on them is that they hang closer together and are more rigid, thus chickens may not adapt as well. Which is part of the reason I started with the fabric ones. I read lots of comments that the chickens would not even use the soft ones, and my girls have proved that wrong. Always worth a shot though, they can be taken down. I would suggest starting with only a couple of the flaps down (pin the others up/open, somehow). Once they are accustomed to going in/out thru the flaps, let more of the flaps down.
