Hello, I am new to the chicken world and I am about to finish up my coop! I have an elevated house that has an open extension on it. It will be covered with chicken wire and the underside of the house will be fenced in as well. It is framed out with 2x4's I am about to start attaching the chicken wire. The wire will fence in the extended area as well as the underpart of the coop. So they will have a big fenced in run. Does it matter if I attach the wire to the inside or outside of the frame? If I do the inside the edging will be covered up with wood trim to prevent them from cutting themselves. But does it matter inside vs. outside??? Thanks, Lori

I'm new to this too, but it would seem to me that if the wire is on the outside, predators, like raccoons, would have an easier time pulling the wire back to get into the coop. The coops at the local feed store had the wire on the inside and then edges covered with wood trim like you said.

Inside would be just fine I think, beware though " chicken wire" is by no means a good barrier against predators.

Sandwitching the wire between the trim boards will work great. You can use heavy staples to hold it ( the kind you hammer in ) Then screw the trim boards together. Please reconsider using chicken wire though. It will not keep predators out. 1/2 inch hardware cloth is the best thing to use.
