wire or shavings

I have 40+ quail on shavings, should I switch to wire instead?

What are the pros/cons?

Same for me, my coturnix are 6 weeks old thursday and I came out today and I have 11 eggs on the 1/2 inch wire.

I guess wire is not a problem.

WIRE! It is soooooo much easier and helps deter illness that shavings may in fact harbor.

I agree wire it the best I only use wood shaving during the brooding process

my quail coop was a rabbit hutch before I made it for the quail, there is a wooden box compartment where in the harsh winter I hang a light, they love their hidey hole. I keep pine shavings in there,, they bathe in it! Plus thats where they lay their eggs too. I clean it out every two weeks. the other side is all wire. they hang out there a lot so they can watch the back door.
