I am one of those wanting chickens people whose husband isn't quite on board with the idea. I need a coop with a fenced pen area as my English Cocker Spaniel thinks chickens need to be retrieved and she was quite proud of herself when she retrieved one of my neighbors chickens and brought it to me...luckily she had a soft mouth for that one and she was ok.

I am looking through the coop plans trying to decide on the tactic to use on my husband as he does like to make things. I liked the plan that Woodcox acres has and will be looking at others. I really don't think I want more than about 6 hens. What are your favorite designs?

This is what i built for mine, a tractor, is okay for about 6 chickens, can put wheels under it and move it around the yard as needed. I built it out of barn wood and old barn tin.

I thought i had built the nest boxes inside to small...but they worked after all!!!

Hello and
welcome-byc.gif
from Southern PA!

We used this as a brooder, but it will be good for six adult hens - we bought two chick-n-ware hutches and combined them. Minimal building required. Each one was $99.99. The chickens are using it as their coop until the big coop is done.

Much cheaper than any of the other pre-fab coops for that many chickens! Good luck convincing your husband!

Welcome to BYC! Hope you manage to talk hubby into it quick. Otherwise do what I usually do and DIY. You'll be surprised how quick the offer for help comes

I like your set-up, Aeropennchick. Looks quite nice. I'll be in the market for a small coop and run myself in a few month's time when we've moved. I know where I'm going to look for ideas!
