This was the most terrifing thing I ever saw. I was in my pool this afternoon, and a few feet away from me I heard a REALLY loud chicken squawk. It was a sound I had never heard before. So when I hear this noise, I look over to my chickens (free-ranging in my fenced in back yard) and I see a HAWK flying away from them!! Holy crap! I think the hawk must be a juvenille who didn't get a good grip on my chicken, and flew off.

I couldn't get out of the pool fast enough. This was so scary. The hawk was perched in a tree right above us by the time I got out of the pool, and then it started flying over me (not very high;not as high as the peak of my roof) I got my daughter & another child to come out of the pool and make noise, etc, and the hawk finally flew away.

My poor babies were so scared. I got them to go back in their coop. They went into their run, and then some of them went upstairs into the coop! (Which they never go into during the day).

I can't believe this; I was so close to this hawk. I was skimming the pool; I should have thrown the skimmer at the hawk!

A hawk attacked one of our ducks in broad daylight right by the house. Then the hawk had the nerve to sit a tree right by the house so he could finish the job.

Luckily the vet by our house is AWESOME and treated our duck and she lived.

GAH...predators suck!!

I had one come after my birds the other day. Thank god my son was home. He said my roo attacked it once it's feet hit the ground.(It missed my cochin hen) My son ran outside & he whipped it with his shirt. I guess he didn't have time to think to grab a shovel. Eventually it flew up in the tree & just watched for a few minutes before leaving.

ive witnessed hawk attacks a few times here, ive had broody hens and turkeys attack hawks wile defending their babies, and the babies all hide and wait for the moms to return to them

You might want to check your chickens over for injuries. Those talons can do a heck of a lot of damage even with a glancing blow. Also be on alert because it will be back. Good luck.
