Wobbles, I love ya, but ya just don't learn...

So it's the day before I say goodbye to my beloved babies (for the time being) and my poor Wobbles has just been having one heck of a bad week. First he developed a minor eye infection, then he hurt his leg! It occurred sometime on Friday!!

By Sunday it appeared as if it was improving, but...well, a drake is a drake is a drake, and in the bath he tried to mouth the fair maiden Bean and hurt himself even further.

I've tried to keep him as immobilized as I can, but sure enough, come nightfall I put him in his nighttime crate, and the instant I place Bean in with him it's back to shenanigans!


I wanted to spend my time snuggling with both of them as much as possible, but I also gotta help my baby birb heal. So for the time being, Wobbles is in jail. At least Bean is keeping him company.

Done and done! Gotten bitten by both, hehe. Wobs 'cuz he's mad I've got him in the gulag, and Bean 'cuz she just laid an egg and she's defending it in the "nest" she made out of a tshirt that she pulled out of my suitcase. Silly birb.

I did want to ask you a question though, what's the best way to restrict a duck's movement? I considered swaddling the guy and just carrying him with me everywhere, but I don't think that's practical, even if it is our last day together. I just feel bad, having him locked up like this. But I don't know what else to do, you can't wrap a duck's leg!

I'd just leave him where he is not much else you can do but I'd give him some epsom salt soaks too. I know you won't let him drink the water. Hopefully rest and some soaks or compresses and warm water therapy will help.
