I was typing same thing, but I see you beat me to the punch. In case of a lonely chick I have read that hanging a feather duster they can snuggle in and a small stuffed animal to climb on helps.

Both good ideas. I was considering rolling up an old clean rag to give it something to lay next to, but those might work better, especially in combination. Thanks.I have never brooded just one chick by itself but have read where many others have. They put a mirror in brooder, so chick sees another and doesn't feel so alone. Also read they put a small stuffed animal in brooder for them to snuggle with or hang like a feather duster so chick can snuggle under that. They can get very lonely as they are flock creatures.
Unfortunately the space I had dedicated to the hatching effort is now required for getting seeds started for the veggie garden. If you were hoping for more, any chance you could get 2-3 friends to add in w your new fluffier butt?
Don't most sellers have minimums (like usually 10 or so) for chick orders?Maybe a few from Ideal since they are in your state?
